Zero University
An alternative to university, built for the AI era.
About Zero University
Zero is an AI-native alternative to university: you learn by building real projects, then Zero matches you with employers. Learning is free; recruiters pay. It comes from Navid Nathoo, who spent the previous decade building The Knowledge Society. Zero launched publicly on May 29, 2026.

Explaining a brand-new product with a deck is how you lose the room. So I treated it like a short movie.
A school that didn’t exist yet
This was August 2025, months before Zero launched, when the ask came in from Zero’s design team. The product was a genuinely new thing: not a course platform, not a bootcamp, closer to a school rebuilt from scratch around building real projects. Inside the company, new is exciting. Outside, new mostly means confusing.
The film had to let someone who had never seen the product get it in a few minutes: what it is, how it works, why it matters, what using it looks like. And it had to be genuinely watchable, because nobody remembers a presentation they had to survive.
Tell it like a short film
The reference that unlocked it was Ant-Man’s storytelling scenes: Luis narrates, the cast acts the story out on screen, and every line of dialogue comes out in his voice. One voice carries the story while the visuals play it out. We borrowed that engine for a product film.
So instead of walking through features, I built a small narrative and let the product introduce itself inside it. What came out is part short film, part product demo, part pitch: a normal person can follow it end to end, and an investor gets their questions answered without noticing they were being pitched.
Made in 2025, and what came out
AI video in 2025 was nowhere near where it is today. I experimented with most of the software that existed, kept what held up, and built my own workflows to get results the tools didn’t give by default. The tools are not the story, though. The idea needed shots no early-stage budget could film, and this was the way to get them.
The result is one coherent film: a story a normal person can follow, the real product woven through it, ending as a pitch without ever feeling like one. My side of it was the edit and the AI filmmaking, working closely with Atul Khola on Zero’s design team. Zero went on to launch publicly in May 2026.
The fastest way to explain something new is a story someone actually enjoys watching.
